The business centre of South Somerset, this thriving market town takes its name from the river Yeo and is home to the bustling Quedam shopping centre, Octagon Theatre, Goldenstones Leisure Centre, Yeovil Recreation Centre, and boasts a multi-screen cinema and ten-pin bowling complex.
Yeovil Country Park takes you on a journey around woodlands and waterfalls following the River Yeo to meadow pastures and far reaching views to the wider countryside.
The Centre was formed in 1994 to preserve the original Southern Railway turntable installed in the late 1940’s and to provide facilities for main line steam. Since then the turntable has been overhauled and visitors can watch, from a special viewing platform, the spectacle of large steam engines being turned and serviced when they call at Yeovil Junction.
A 300 acre recreation green space plus outdoor sports facilities including an Athletics arena, Articifial grass pitch, football pitches, golf courses, tennis courts and play space. New Rec cafe now open 7 days a week.
There are a number or 3-2-1 running routes in South Somerset and Yeovil Country Park offers a couple of options to choose from including the 3-2-1 running routes and the Blackburn Fitness Trail.
Britain’s leading micro-mobility operator Zwings, in partnership with South Somerset District Council, is providing an e-scooter rental service from bays across Yeovil and other parts of our area too.
