Q: Are there any paths that are suitable for wheelchairs and push-chairs/buggies?
A: There is an all-access trail just under 1 mile long that leads you round the northern section of the site, past the stone circle and up to the war memorial. We realise it could be in better condition, and as part of a three year facility improvement plan funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund we are planning to re-surface the whole trail to make it more comfortable for all visitors - this should be taking place in May 2009.

Q: When is the Rangers Office open?
A: Staff are on site Monday to Friday and for organised weekend events. However, due to the nature of their work they may not be in the office at all times, hence it is difficult to give exact opening times. If you would like to meet or talk to a member of staff, it would be advisable to telephone before hand on 01935 823617.

Q: Where can I go on Ham Hill, and what time is it open?
A: Ham Hill is managed for free, public open access all year round, 24 hours a day. The Country Park covers approximately 400 acres and the best way to find out where you can go and things to do, is to pick up a copy of the 'Ham Hill Herald'. This booklet is available free of charge from the Ham Hill Rangers Office, all SSDC offices and local Tourist Information Centres.

Q: Why are there sheep on Ham Hill?
A: Ham Hill is grazed with sheep for approximately 6-8 months of the year predominantly during the summer months Grazing in various different areas in produces a varied structure of grassland that encourages a diverse range of plant and animal species. Grazing is a very useful management technique, used to keep down invasive scrub where it is difficult to mow, and on such an extensive site it would be too time consuming. It is important to control the scrub not only to protect the important grasslands and archaeology, but also to keep the site accessible for recreation. Where sheep are grazing please keep all dogs on leads and make sure you keep gates closed - all areas currently being grazed are clearly signed.

Q: Are you allowed to have barbeques on Ham Hill?
A: There is a designated BBQ close to the Ranger's Office - if you want to use disposable barbeques, there are hamstone platforms/plinths to place them on. It would be appreciated if people could bag their rubbish and take it home with them. As part of a three year facility improvement plan funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund we have recently made major improvements to the BBQ area by laying tarmac paths to allow easier access for people in wheelchairs, installing new disabled access benches, and by the summer there should be new bins installed as well.
